How to run an investor-ready sprint solo — no cohort, no calls
The standard advice for getting investor-ready is to join something — an accelerator batch, a studio program, a cohort with a kickoff call. The structure helps, goes the theory, and the deadline is the product.
Here's what the theory misses: the deadline is the product, and deadlines are free. The rest of the cohort machinery — the scheduled calls, the batch timing, the waiting for intake — is overhead that exists for the program's benefit, not yours. You wait months to start, then move at the speed of the slowest founder in the room.
A solo sprint inverts this. Day 1 is whenever you say it is, and the only calendar that matters is yours. What you actually need is the thing programs gatekeep: the sequence. Which artifact to build on which day, in what order, so each day's work feeds the next.
The sequence that works:
- Day 1 — Problem & positioning. One paragraph a stranger repeats back correctly. Everything else builds on this sentence.
- Day 2 — Business model. Who pays, for what, how much, why they stay.
- Day 3 — Market sizing. A TAM/SAM/SOM you can defend, not decorate.
- Day 4 — Traction. Your honest metrics, each with a value and a date.
- Day 5 — Financial model. Eighteen months, assumptions visible.
- Day 6 — Deck & data room. Assembled from days 1–5. If you did the week in order, nothing is written twice.
- Day 7 — The ask. Round, range, use of funds — then re-run your readiness check and watch what moved.
Two rules make it work solo. First, ship each day's artifact even if it's rough — a defensible-but-ugly financial model on Day 5 beats a beautiful one arriving after the investor asked. Second, work in tools, not documents — artifacts that live in a workspace get updated; slides in a folder rot.
That sequence above is the whole secret, and it's yours — no application, no batch, no calls. Studios run this same week with their portfolio and charge equity for the privilege.
If you'd rather not assemble it by hand, StartupKit runs the identical week as a guided sprint — each day pre-mapped to the tool that produces its artifact, your work saved as you go: the Investor-Ready Sprint. Same sequence, same seven days. You're paying for the assembly, not the information — the information is on this page.
